“I am Bernard Osei, and I have been with D1:8 since its inception and beyond; D1:8’s director was my Sunday School teacher in our local church since I was a little boy. I will be 20 years old by November this year, but I am just in the first year at senior high school… ideally I should have been in university by now but I’m not because my father decided he was not going to take care of me and my siblings because my mother walked away from the relationship. It took the late intervention of my grandfather for me to be enrolled in school, so schooling started quite late for me.

I struggled through school with paying bills and buying books; I had to sell drinking water on the street. My eyes were damaged from carrying the water through the sun all day and a specialist told me I urgently needed medical attention. When I finally finished junior high, I had no idea how I was going to financially sustain myself through senior high.

I am so grateful for the kind intervention of both D1:8’s support through the Barnabas Fund, as well as (Doris) D1:8’s director’s personal generosity with helping me through school. The support went above and beyond my school-related expenses; helping me with personal expenses and extra classes to catch up.

I don’t know who might be reading this, but I want to strongly encourage you that when you give to this ministry, especially the Barnabas Fund, you are helping young ones like me get closer to our dream.”
